Susan Preston HypnotherapistHi there I’m Susan Preston and a massive welcome to Clear Future Hypnotherapy.

Many people come to the ‘about’ page on websites to find out about the person behind it, but can we start with you?

So, why are you here?

I believe that hypnotherapy is an excellent way for you to give yourself the gift of time, self-respect, compassion and self-care. It really doesn’t matter ‘why’ you are coming along, it’s the fact that you already know  that you have to make the changes you want to make and are prepared to make them happen.

One  of my reasons for training as a Clinical Hypnotherapist was my passion for wanting to know what makes you tick, what’s your story , what has led  you to look at using hypnotherapy to change your life?

Getting to know you

Hypnotherapy is powerful,  natural and most importantly effective tool: it’s where massive changes can  happen safely,  often quickly, while all the time you are in complete control, relaxed and just listening.

Your first step is to contact me for a confidential chat, so I can get to know you a little, find out what you need some help with, and for you to be confident that hypnotherapy is right for you at this time.

This chat also gives you the opportunity to ask as many questions as you want about hypnotherapy, so that when you choose a time for your session you arrive safe in the knowledge of what is likely to happen and are completely at ease when you walk in the door.

Are you trained?

Yes, I trained with the highly respected Scottish School of Hypnotherapy (SSH) which is accredited by the National Society of Professional Hypnotherapists. This course is also recognised by  many professional  organisations.

I am a member of three professional organisations which all have strict codes of conduct ensuring you get the highest level of support possible.

About me

I originally trained as a Speech and Language Therapist (nearly 30 years ago) and spent a long career working in the NHS. Like many people I came to that  cross roads in both my professional and in my personal life.

So, in 2004  while continuing to work for the NHS  I started my own successful  business in complementary therapies. I got a real buzz from  developing my therapies and seeing people change. I know that I was really lucky to be able to work with so many different people, all with their own fascinating story to tell.

I worked with a variety of organisations mainly in the voluntary sector, including West Dunbartonshire Healthy Living Initiative, Robin House (Children’s Hospice Association Scotland), Helensburgh and Lomond Carers SCIO, and Dumbarton District Woman’s Aid, to name but a few. This was certainly a great move but I knew it wasn’t the final one.

I knew that I loved working with people and I realised at this point that I loved the talking therapies.

I  also loved  developing my counselling skills along the way.

I loved finding out about how people ticked. I loved seeing people develop and change. I loved my role as a Speech and Language Therapist, so  after much searching clinical hypnotherapy seemed to be the perfect 3rd Act for me.

This change has to be the best decision I have ever made, though I will admit it was not an easy step to take.

I love being a clinical hypnotherapist. I find it ticks all the boxes for me, not just personally, but also professionally.

As you will have gathered I have an invaluable amount of  experience to draw on- including knowledge of medical and social care models.

These help me look at health and well-being as a whole not just as a medical issue.

Take smoking. Some people successfully give up cigarettes with medication, gums, and electronic cigarettes. However hypnotherapy  can get right to the core of why a person is smoking in the first place, so that can be undone.

Or weight loss, some people are on a diet for a lifetime, but I wonder what success they would have if they were able to, through hypnotherapy, find freedom from their relationship and emotional dependency on food.

  • I will understand when you say ‘it’s so hard to control your weight.
  • I get that every new diet does not hold the answer to your future happiness, but at the time you think it does.
  • I get the fact that you want to lose weight but can’t be bothered to exercise.
  • I get why you think you’ll stop smoking tomorrow, but tomorrow never comes or maybe your determination lasts a few weeks or days or hours.
  • I get why it’s simple to worry yourself out of action.
  • I get why being anxious and afraid can put your life on hold.
  • I get the number of brain cells we can waste  every day trying, often unsuccessfully to achieve what we want and more importantly need.

To tell you the truth I’ve been there and worn most of the T-shirts for most of the above.

But I truly, truly believe that we all have the potential to change and to be who we know we want to be.

I also know that this is not always easy. But what I have come to realise is, with hypnotherapy, these changes can happen, and happen simply, and safely, with ease, and with comfort.

What next?

Well you can stay just where you are or you can always contact me for a chat  if you want to know more about hypnotherapy in general, or if you are wondering whether hypnotherapy can help you make the changes you want, or maybe you want to understand why you have not achieve long lasting change.

You can eliminate the barriers which are holding you back and move your life forward. Change will be easy.
